Boats & Birds | Gregory & The Hawk
I live to let you shine.
This song will never not remind me of your swaddled little baby body in your green striped blanket that’s now worn and tattered up on your bed where you’re sleeping in your treehouse room. It will always remind me of seemingly endless afternoons alone together as mother and daughter on Fulton street where I’d rock you into slumber. You’re growing up so quickly and those tiny moments are getting further and further away from me, but I carry them with me wherever I go. Hearing simple songs or seeing pictures may trigger some memories, but they’re with me all the time. They’re a giant part of my story and they are a part of me as much as my hands or the hair on my head, only they seem even more permanent. Hair changes, these things don’t. I love you. Thank you for helping me write the world’s greatest love story. - Mom
