Dear Scarlet,
Today was your very first day of Pre-K. We woke up a little late, your dad got here while we were still getting ready and you were eating all the icing off of your frosted mini wheats. We scurried around so as not to be late and walked you to school after taking pictures on the porch. You were so eager. We got inside and into the gym where everybody was meeting. I completely lost it. Tears everywhere as I watched you make your very first friend. I was trying so hard to hold it together for you, but I admit that I was a mess. Your dad left before drum circle and the pledge and I walked you to your classroom. There was a BooHoo breakfast in the library for all the parents of Pre-K and Kindergarteners. I went to it and felt really young compared to all the other parents. It almost made me self-conscious, so I took a donut and left. I had to get to work anyway. But I swear that I will continue to be the best parent I can be for you, despite being a bit younger. I can’t believe how much you’ve grown. We are both so incredibly proud of you. I love you. - Mom
